first_imgA man has died on board a flight from Mexico City to Tokyo with 246 packets of cocaine in his stomach.A Japanese man has died after he ingested 246 packets of cocaine on his way from Mexico City to Tokyo.The 42-year-old man, identified only as Udo N, began convulsing in the early hours of Friday and went into cardiac arrest.The plane was forced to make an emergency landing in the Mexican city of Hermosillo.Authorities suspect Udo N died of cerebral oedema caused by a drug overdose.According to reports, Udo N’s trip began in Bogota, Colombia where it is assumed he took delivery of the cocaine packets, each measuring 2.5cm by 1cm.In a statement, the prosecutor’s office for the state of Sonora said: “Flight attendants noticed a person suffering convulsions and requested permission to make an emergency landing in Hermosillo, Sonora.“When the plane landed at 2:25am on Friday, paramedics boarded it and declared Udo N deceased.”The Aeromexico plane carrying 198 other passengers resumed its flight to Japan after the body was removed.
